Into the Woods

A group of my friends and I went to the midnight showing of Breaking Dawn last Thursday! Being the dork that I am, I wanted to make shirts for everyone. I tend to commit to making things without having any idea of how to do what I want to do. So fortunately, I have a friend who loves craftiness as much as I do and together we figured out how to make these shirts! (sorry it's not the greatest picture)

It's amazing what you can do with freezer paper, an iron, paint and glitter! Here we all are on our way to the movie!!

And here we are after the movie. The movie was crazy!! It has been so long since I read the books I had forgotten how intense this part of the saga was. I'm glad we all were able to go together.

Before we went to the movie we helped our friend spray paint some stuff for her "glow in the dark" party she threw for her 2 year old boy! Because I am terrible at using my camera these are the best pictures I could get.

Our Halloween this year was pretty low key. Let me just tell you that I am still working on getting my house completely put together, and because of how crazy life has been I have had no energy to put into being that crafty. I didn't even realize until late Halloween night that we had not carved a pumpkin! Oh well, maybe next year! I did however, find some time to work on a simple costume for Landon. He absolutely loves everything and anything that has to do with tools. He can tell you the names of most tools too! Smart boy! So I thought it was only fitting that his costume have something to do with tools, he was Handy Manny! I like the idea of always making my kids Halloween costumes, so I put his together myself. I dyed his shirt, it was the first time I have ever done this. It turned out pretty good, but next time I need to be a littlemore careful with the dye! I might have stained our counter a little bit. Oops! Oh, and always wear gloves!

I am hoping to make Ava's costume next year. This year I just bought her the cutest little fall outfit! She is the sweetest baby! A little pumpkin.

And here we all are. Once again, this is as good as our family pic's get with our busy boy! It's a miracle everyone is looking at the camera!

We made it by both sets of grandparents and our sweet friends the McInturff's trick-or-treating. And that is the extent of our Halloween! Not much, but it was fun!

I hope to make both of theirs next year! I am also hoping that this time next year our lives are even more settled! We will see...

pumpkins and friends

This last week my family and a friend of mine and her family went to the pumpkin patch at a local church to take some family pics and pick out a few pumpkins to paint! I made my two kiddos a pumpkin shirt, I must say, they turned out pretty cute! Ava's outfit is super cute! I made her a tutu and a headband to match her shirt!

Our beautiful baby Ava!

My good friend Kinsey who was with us has 3 boys. Her two oldest and Landon ran around the entire time we were there! She got a picture of Landon running at full speed! I think it's hilarious!

When I get the camera out, it is usually to take pictures of my kids. It is a rare occasion these days that Mark and I have our picture taken. This is a great one!

The next day 3 of my friends and their kids came over and we all painted pumpkins. Between the four of us there were 8 boys (one is still just a little guy) and my girl Ava (one other girl on the way!!) So needless to say when you get that many kiddos together it is a bit chaotic! But we all had fun! I really enjoy getting together with my girlfriends, and enduring a bit of chaos along the way is totally worth it!

I love fall! It is still pretty warm here in Texas so it will be even better once the weather is a little cooler! Hopefully there is more exciting fall stuff to come!

life is always changing

Well, it sure has been a while since I last posted. I always intend to stick with it and then I don't. So we will see what happens this time around! Sooo much has changed in my life since my last post! Landon turned 2, we moved (for the 3rd time in about as many years), Mark started a new job, we had a baby, and bought a new house. Yes, I was worn out after all of that. I am still in the process of unpacking and finding a new home for all of my stuff, so much stuff. Thank the Lord though, we are getting into some sort of a routine and getting settled in our new home. So life is starting to slow down a little (as much as it can with 2 kids), and I am starting to find a little bit time to do a few things I enjoy...like blogging! So let me catch you up with a few pics from the last many months.

My sweet boy turned 2 years old June 3rd. I have no idea how the first 2 years of his life went by as quickly as they did. This one is from his birthday morning, he LOVES balloons!

Here are a few from his birthday party. In case you don't know, I absolutely love planning parties and so I had a lot of fun with this one. It was Mark's brilliant idea, a baseball theme party. Here is the fun table with so much sugary goodness!

Our little family

We were so lucky to be able to take a summer vacation to Ruidoso, New Mexico for a week. One day we drove over to the white sand dunes. Landon had a blast! We slid down the dunes and played in the sand all morning. I was actually able to climb those dunes 7 months pregnant, though it was not such an easy task! I even slid down once or twice! Ha

We all stayed in my uncle's vacation home in Ruidoso. It was such a nice, relaxing week.

August 17th our amazing baby girl graced us with her presence. I am so in love again. It is amazing a mother's love for her children. They are truly amazing blessings.

a few things i enjoy

Let me just tell you that if you ever want to completely make my day, bring me flowers. Any flower will do. I love them all! So last fall I planted ranunculus and tulip bulbs and I have honestly been a little disappointed with the turn out. I think it's my fault though, I don't think I watered them enough. Oops. Maybe I will have better luck next year! Out of the few ranunculus that did bloom there is one that is the biggest and most beautiful and I love it.

So I love being crafty, but lately I have been so tired I have not felt like doing anything crafty. Somehow though I found the energy to make this diaper cake for a sweet friend that I work with.I think diaper cakes are much more fun than just a box of diapers!

I made a bow holder for my niece for Christmas this past year. It was my first attempt at one and I guess it turned out decently enough because my sister-in-law asked me to make one as a gift for her to give! Every time I make something, I always learn something that I need to do or want to do differently in the future. I really like this one but I think that next time I will dress it up a little more with flowers or something.

Well...I am super excited to say that we are having a girl!!! I just can not wait to meet her! We have named her Ava, the name I have loved and wanted for a little girl for a very long time! This weekend my parents came up to visit and so my mom, Jess, Aunt Kelli and I all did a little shopping for Miss Ava and here is what we came up with:

Dreaming

I have been sewing quite a bit lately and I love creating things! I have learned a lot and there is so much more that I want to learn to do. Due to not having a craft room, every time I have something to work on I set it up on our dining room table and our kitchen island. This is what that looks like...utter chaos

Weekend Fun

This past weekend my parents came up to visit and to blow insulation in our attic for us! Now our house will be nice and toasty this winter....thanks Dad! Landon looooves his Papa. He wants his Papa over everyone else when he is in town. Here they are watching tv, Landon has the remote which is never a good thing!

Today after church we ate at Red Lobster. Poor Landon was thrown off by the time change plus we were eating a late lunch on top of that so he was not the happiest camper. However, when dessert came out he dug in and enjoyed a lot of chocolate.

We had a great weekend and love it when grandparents visit! Oh and I tried a new recipe yesterday by Pioneer Woman, it doesn't have a title but it's her husbands favorite sandwich. It was kind of like a philly cheese steak sandwich and it was soo yummy! Definately a keeper.

Landon was Super Landon tonight for Halloween. I'm hoping as he gets older he will enjoy playing a superhero often and that he keeps his cape forever! We went to a "Trunk or Treat" at two churches and he loved running free. It made his cape even greater! He got a lot of candy that I'm sure I will end up eating and we had a lot of fun. Yay or a successfully homemade costume, especially when I was not really sure of what I was doing! Here is everything I made for him:

Learning To Read

The past several years I have not read much at all. I would not even use an entire 5 fingers to count the number of books I have read from beginning to end since college. Recently, however, I read the entire Twilight Saga in a matter of weeks! They were all so entertaining it was easy for me to get through them. My sister had been telling me for quite some time that I should read them, so I did. I have to admit I very much enjoyed the time I spent reading!

Many of you may have the same story as to why you do not read much. I was forced to read so many boring text books in high school and college I grew tired of reading and quit all together. I am determined now though to expand the number of books I have read! After talking with my friend Kinsey about how we both enjoy reading, we decided to start a book club! We had our first meeting this past Monday and are currently reading The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. We picked out 9 additional books to read through the rest of this year. I am so excited about this new hobby of mine! I made cute bookmarks for each lady in the club. I stole the idea off Etsy (my new favorite place to go), though I'm sure mine are not as well put together.

I am excited about starting to read again! It is a great way to spend my time. There are so many books out there I want to read too. Hopefully I will have plenty of time to read them all!

Headache

So for the past 3 days I have had a headache. I decided to give up drinking Dr Pepper. At least until I'm not addicted to the darn things anymore, then I plan on having one only every now and then instead of having several every day.
The reason I am giving them up is because I really want to fit into my old jeans again without having to use a rubber band to "button" them. I know, I know. I could just go out and buy a bigger pair but the thought of that kind of makes me depressed. What is even worse is that a couple months after I had Landon I was about 8 pounds away from my pre-preggo weight; then I decided it would be a good idea to drink a lot of DP and eat whatever I want. Bad idea. Now I'm much further away than only 8 pounds.
Having a baby is the best thing I have ever done but nothing prepares you for how you look afterwards. So all you ladies out there who haven't yet had the joy of carrying a baby in your tummy, enjoy your body as it is now!!! After you have kids it won't be the same. I'm not just talking about looks either. Now, every time I stand up from sitting my back aches.

Ok, I will stop complaining now. I just wish someone had told me to appreciate my pre-preggo body!
So all that to say I have had no DP and my head is killing me. However, I will not give in and I will reach my goal! I will fit into my old jeans again!
No matter the end result, he was completely worth it. Look at the little guy, there is none cuter!

Is it really time for turkey again? Wow, this year has flown by. I have no idea where it went! I do love turkey though and everything that is a must have with it! All of you people out there who get tired of turkey and so you do Mexican food or something else instead, I'm sorry but you are crazy! Please give me turkey every year and nothing else! It is one of my favorite meals and this is truly the only time of year I get it.

Wednesday night we went to Immanuel Baptist Church's Thanksgiving dinner with Mark's parents. The food was great! Landon went with us and was perfect the whole time! Apparently he was the talk of the night, but does that really surprise you? Here is the little man with his Mimi and Grandad.

So its been a while since I have tried blogging. Obviously I wasn't very dedicated to it the first time, but lately I have had this desire to share what goes on in my life with the world...again. So I'm going to give this another shot.
Landon is now 5 1/2 months old and close to crawling. Everyone tells you that they grow up so fast but that's one of those things you don't understand until you have your own! It is amazing the love you develop for your children. We had a pretty rough start but now I don't remember my life without the little guy! My life is now consumed with caring for Landon. I am so thankful that my husband also desires for me to stay home with him and any future children we have. Though it is not always easy, there is nothing I would rather be doing than staying home with Landon. Look at how adorable he is, and those big beautiful eyes!

I absolutely LOVE flowers and I really enjoy creating my own flower arrangements. So I picked up these cremon flowers the other day and made this arrangement. They arn't fallish and don't go along with any of my colors but I think they turned out great.

If you ever want to absolutly make my day give me flowers, they don't even have to be my favorite (which happen to hydrangeas), any flower will do!

Getting Ready

I can’t believe that I am already at 28 weeks! That means that we have a little less than 3 months to go. Sometimes when I think about Landon actually being here I get really anxious! He is growing like crazy now, and so am I! I’m pretty sure he has no where else to go except for out! He sure is moving a lot these days, sometimes I feel like he is just going to kick his way out. One of his latest developments is getting the hiccups. It’s so funny.
We have been working on getting the nursery ready. I love it! Over the last few weeks my sweet family and friends have helped us get it all painted and ready for furniture. If you ever need help painting stripes on your wall, Megan and I are now pro’s so we can help! This past Tuesday night Mark and I got the crib all set up, that was a little bit challenging. Then Jess came over and we put all of the bedding stuff on the crib. It looks so cute! Now we are waiting on our dresser and then once I get the furniture arranged how I like it we will put some stuff up on the walls! I can’t wait! Here are some pictures of the nursery.

Lately...

So it has been a while since I last wrote, and a lot has gone on since then! Well....sort of. Just to let you in on some of what my pregnancy hormones have been doing to me...The other week I think if you had looked at me the wrong way I would have cried. One day I couldn't hold back the tears as I sat in my bosses office even though the reason for the tears wasn't that great! Then another day Mark came out to the church for lunch and we got a little snippy with each other (what married couple doesn't?) and I kinda broke down while sitting at my desk. Poor Mark, he just left he didn't know what to do and I sat there at my very non-private desk trying to hold back the inevitable. Thankfully I work with wonderful people and my friend Alicia aked if I needed to come to her office. So I went and got out my tears. I'm sure everyone around the office thinks I'm crazy. I promise I'm usually not this sensitive! Maybe I am crazy...I don't know. So needless to say, choose carefully what you say to me unless you want me to burst into tears!
We have decided on a name for our little boy!!! His name is Landon! We are still deciding on a middle name. We have limited it down to Parker, Pryce, and Tucker (I think Tucker is probably our 3rd favorite so it's really between the first two). I feel Baby Landon moving a lot these days! Last night Mark and I were sitting on the couch and just watching my belly move when he kicked....it's crazy! I love just sitting and feeling him move, I think I could do it all day and never get tired of it. I just can't wait to meet my little one. I wonder all the time what he will be like and his personality will be. Will he be wild and crazy or calm and easy-going? We will see soon!

I am going tomorrow to hopefully pick out some paint colors for the nursery. Wish me luck because it usually takes me a while to make a decision.
I think that's really all that's been going on with us. I am over halfway through the pregnancy! The first part has flown by, and I'm ok with the second doing the same. Mark and I go March 11 to do all sorts of things at the Dr's but we will also get a 3D sonogram! Hopefully during this one we will be able to get a picture of his sweet little face! So exciting! I can't wait until he is here!!!

It's a BOY!!!

So Mark and I went to our appointment yesterday and found out our baby is a little boy! When she told us it was a boy I was really surprised....I think I thought it was going to be a girl. I didn't really think I felt one way or the other until we found out but I could not be more excited about a having a boy! After our appointment we met our parents, my sis and some friends to tell them. It was a lot of fun, then after lunch me, Jess, Megan and Meagan went to the mall so I could buy our little one an outfit....I came out with a few but hey that's ok. I realized at our appointment that I am feeling him move, it's so crazy that there is a little person inside of me moving all around! I am overjoyed....now I really can't wait for May to get here; and praise the Lord he looks like a healthy baby!

Boy or Girl???

So Mark and I go this Wednesday (in like 39 hours) to find out if we will be having a little girl or a little boy!!! I can not wait...I'm such a planner so I really hope we are able to find out. Knowing my luck the baby wouldn't let us see and we would never be able to find out until he or she is born. But I need to know because I have to get the nursery ready, and I need to know whether I need to use pink or blue! Mark thinks we will be having a girl, I have no idea, no inclination to what the baby will be. It's crazy to think that in two days we will be able to decide on and give our baby a name....I think it will all seem more real once we do that! So I want to know what you think...is it a boy or a girl?
I'm kind of at that point where I should be able to feel the baby moving soon. They say with your first pregnancy you may often mistake the baby's movements for other bodily functions that are quite normal during pregnancy! Sometimes I think I feel the baby move but I have not been sure yet if it is the baby or something else! I am almost halfway there, I can't believe how quickly the days are going by. I hope it continues to go by quickly, I'm ready to have this little one here! The next time I write we will know!!!

Baby Bump

So last night my friend Erin that I work with up at the church came over and took pictures of Mark and I for our Christmas cards. We were sitting down for a lot of the pictures and when I was looking at them afterward I noticed that my belly looked quite a bit larger than it normally does! I mean, I have been able to tell that my belly has been growing for a while (its been many weeks now that I have had to wear my maternity pants) but last night I could really tell in the pictures. It's just so crazy...our baby is about 4 inches long now and the size of an apple! I love being able to compare our baby's size to something I can actually picture. So since I feel like I am really starting to show I thought I would show you a picture! OH..and also...hopefully we will be able to find out if we will be having a boy or girl at our next appointment....tell me what YOU think we will have! Mark thinks we will be having a girl...I have no idea.

Active Baby

Today we had an appointment with our doctor, who by the way is great! A little while after we checked in and were sitting in the waiting area a nurse came out and announced that our doctor had to run deliver a baby but that it shouldn't be that long of a wait. It wasn't, I told Mark it's crazy that you can just "run deliver a baby"! Anyways....it was a bit of a wait though for a short appointment. I think we saw the doctor for a total of maybe 10 minutes! We got to hear the heartbeat again!!! It is so crazy that you can hear a baby's heartbeat when they are that small! When Dr. Hajovsky was trying to find the heartbeat the baby kept moving around a lot! She had to chase it around for a little bit! So I think we will definitely have an active little one come May. Oh I can't wait!!! So that's really all the latest baby news.
Other than that we are getting ready for Christmas. So I'm all about having traditions with the family, and one I am trying to get started for us is that right after Thanksgiving we take one day to put up all of our Christmas decorations and have lots of goodies to eat and end the evening by watching a Christmas movie. It's just a great day for some good family time. So this day for us was supposed to be last Saturday but come to find out, half of our Christmas decorations were no where to be found...including the lights for our Christmas tree. We looked everywhere with no luck so we went out and bought some new lights for our tree and then I spent like 3 hours putting them on the tree. Needless to say the day did not turned out as planned because we didn't have our decorations so I gave up and went to see my friends. When I got home we plugged in the ornamentless tree and discovered that a strand of lights was no longer working. With all my efforts to fix it I went to bed feeling like a failure and with my hormones all over the place I cried. Not just a little....it felt like the end of the world that night. I know this sounds dramatic but hey...I'm pregnant! I don't have to explain my feelings, they are what they are. So anyways, all is well now, our house looks great and we will try again next year. I love the Christmas season!

Dallas Cowboys & Christmas Shopping

This past weekend Mark and I went to Dallas with our friends Jon and Andrea and their baby Riley who is 3 months old. Andrea and I surprised Mark and Jon with tickets to a Dallas Cowboys football game! They are both football fanatics, so Andrea and I have learned to like football. The other day I went to the Y to work out and they had basketball on the television and I actually wished football was on instead! If you know me, it’s surprising that I had that thought!
So anyways, we had a good weekend. Jon plays the drums for Ornan’s Floor, who is a great band by the way, and they had a weekend event in Dallas this past weekend so it worked out great! Mark hung out with the guys while Andrea, Riley and I got to do some Christmas shopping. We went to Babies R Us and I think I found a bedding set I like for if we have a boy! Oh I can’t wait to find out what we will be having, I have a hard time being patient for things like this. On Saturday we shopped for about 6 or 7 hours and only made it to 2 stores! I think we looked at every single thing in both stores! Needless to say I was worn out at the end of the day.
On Sunday we went to church with the guys and after they were done we went to drop Mark and Jon off at the Cowboys Stadium; that was crazy. There were so many people trying to get in the stadium parking lot at once, so we weren’t moving very fast. We saw a lot of people with a Cowboys jersey on in other cars, we told the guys they should go ride with one of those people but they didn’t like that idea! We got pretty close to the stadium but the traffic was moving so slow we figured it would be quicker if they just got out and walked the rest of the way. While we were moving so slowly on the highway they jumped out of the car and I jumped in the driver’s seat and Andrea, Riley and I went to do some more shopping (Riley was so good the whole time we shopped, he slept the entire time!). Mark and Jon made it in plenty of time to grab some lunch and get to their seats in time for kick-off. They said the game was great and they had good seats! The Cowboys won! It was a great day. Andrea and I did so much shopping that I think if we had bought one more thing we would have had to strap it on top of the car.
We went back to pick the guys up, and just so you know, I hate driving in Dallas. I used to think I wanted to live there….not anymore! So we call the guys to tell them we are close to the Stadium and they tell us to pull over on the highway and wait, they are going to walk to the highway and jump in the car with us. I think I scared Andrea and myself, there wasn’t a good place to pull over. I just wasn’t comfortable with the whole idea. Then after a few minutes they call us back and tell us that they are standing on the side of the highway and we need to get back on the road and drive slowly. I think they picked the worst spot in the world for us to pick them up at. They chose to wait for us right by an entrance onto the highway. The cars were not moving slowly, they were all going fast. So while all these cars are coming onto the highway, they want me to get in front of them and pull over. After thinking about not pull over and have them meet me us somewhere else, I pulled over at the last minute, I think scaring everyone again. Mark told me I timed it bad, like I can time the traffic in Dallas! I was so flustered that as soon as Mark was in the car I started to pull off, only to find out that Jon was not in the car. Sorry Jon, I’m just glad I didn’t run over you!
So anyways, all is well and we made it home safely (I didn’t drive anymore after that!). It was a great weekend with lots of laughs, which I love. I wore myself out shopping, I haven’t walked that much since I found out I was pregnant! I can’t wait for Christmas now! Our next appointment for the baby is December 3, we get to hear the heartbeat again! I can’t wait!

Bring on the Turkey

Last night Mark and I went to eat with Mark's parents at their church's annual Thanksgiving dinner. It was all very good. I love this time of year and I love to eat so it works out well. After dinner Tom and Dana came over to our house and we all played Farkle. I always forget about that game but it's really a great game. You don't have to think a whole lot, it really just depends on how lucky you are! The first time Mark and I played Farkle was when I lived on Ave. M with Megan and Amy. Mark won a few games that night and ever since then he tells me he is the "Farkle King"! He's so funny. Good times with family.
Tonight our small group also had a Thanksgiving meal....it's a good thing I like turkey! It was all really good too. This is all the beginning of a lot of really great food.
So a few things that being pregnant does to me: I will be absolutely starving and feel like I'm going to die if I don't eat, and then when I have food in front of me I can't eat a whole lot before I feel totally stuffed. I guess everything is really starting to run out of room because I know I can eat. The other thing is my emotions! Poor Mark, one minute I'm fine, the next anything will make me mad, and the next I'm crying. I really hope this is all from the hormones, I don't think I'm normally like this.
Well, I guess I had better get going so I can pack for our trip to Dallas this weekend, it's going to be fun!

Hello Blogger World

So my best friend Megan recently became a blogger and said I should do the same. I’m not much of a writer so we will see how this goes!
Mark and I have had some pretty exciting things happen in the last few months. We made our first HUGE purchase together…we bought a house (or are in the process of)! It’s perfect! It is a 3 bedroom 1 ½ bath with a 2 car garage. We have a great size backyard with some nice shady trees. I’m just now getting everything the way I want it. We did a lot of work on the house, almost every room is a different color which I know sounds crazy but it actually works. My mom and sister came over this last Saturday to help me finish unpacking all the boxes we had in what will be the baby’s room!
Yes, we are expecting our first baby! I am due May 28th. I wonder how close to my due date we will actually have the baby. We had our 2nd doctor’s appointment a couple of weeks ago and got to hear the heartbeat! It didn’t sound like what I thought it would sound like, but it’s amazing to hear. Some days it’s still hard to believe that there is a baby really in there, especially since I’m over the whole feeling nauseous 24/7 thing. So now we are just waiting to find out if it will be a boy or a girl…then we can start painting the nursery! You can follow how the baby is growing on my baby timer; it is pretty exciting to watch! My only major craving has been for fried okra, and sadly not many places in town have it. The other day Mark and I went to KFC thinking surely I could get some there because that’s kind of their thing, and surprisingly they do not have fried okra. The only place I know of is Golden Chick, so if anyone knows of any other place I can get some or want to make me some let me know! Well, I guess that’s about it for today…until next time.
